Multiply
to add a number to itself a specific number of times.
When you multiply 4 by 3, it's the same as adding 4 to
itself 3 times.
Divide
to determine how many times one number is contained in another number.
When you divide 12 by 6, you get 2.
Add
to put two or more numbers together to find the total.
Young students might count on their fingers to add numbers
together.
Subtract
to take one number or quantity away from another.
Ali had 7 doughnuts, but he ate 3.
To figure out how many he had left, he had to subtract 3
